India is a country with people of many religions living together in the spirit of unity in diversity. Festivals of all religions are celebrated in India. The main Hindu festivals celebrated in the country are Lohri, Holi, Raksha Bandhan, Durga Puja, Ganesh Mahotsav and Diwali. Apart from these, there are many more Hindu festivals celebrated at a smaller and regional level. The main Muslim festivals celebrated Ramzan (Ramadan), Id-e-Milad, Muharram, and Bakr-Id. The main Sikh festivals are Guru Nanak Jayanti and Jyantis of their 10 gurus. The main Christian festivals are Christmas, Good Friday and Easter. These festivals are celebrated with great joy by the members of the religion to which they belong, however, people from all religions meet and greet these members. So, the celebration of every festival transcends the religious limitations and assumes national flavor.
