Myopia and Hypermetropia:

  1. Myopia and Hypermetropia are two types of vision impairments.
  2. Short-sightedness is known as myopia, and long-sightedness is known as hypermetropia.
  3. A person with these vision problems is unable to see items that are either close by or far away.

The main difference between myopia and hypermetropia:

Myopia Hypermetropia
  1. Myopia is also called near-sightedness.
  2. Myopia causes us to be able to see adjacent items clearly but not distant objects.
  3. The picture is created in front of the Retina for those who have Myopia.
  4. It is caused by an abnormal curvature of the eye lens or an extension of the eyeball.
  5. A Concave Lens of adequate power is used to correct myopia.
  6. Example: Myopia is characterized by a student's inability to see the chalkboard wall.

  1. Hypermetropia is a condition in which we can perceive far things but not close ones.
  2. The picture is created behind the Retina for those who have Hypermetropia.
  3. It occurs when the eyeball is too small or when the focal length of the eye is too long.
  4. A Convex Lens of appropriate power is used to correct hypermetropia.
  5. Example: Hypermetropia is a condition in which an elderly person is unable to see the letters in a newspaper.
