Give one difference between the Myopia and Hypermetropia on the basis of lens used.

Myopia:

  1. Myopia or Nearsightedness occurs when the eye loses its ability to focus on far-off objects as the lenses do not possess a long focal length.
  2. A diverging (concave) lens can be used to fix the problem of nearsightedness.
  3. The rays get focused before it reaches the retina.
  4. The convergence of the light rays takes place due to the cornea producing an image on the retina.

Hypermetropia:

  1. Farsightedness or hyperopia is the inability of the eye to focus on nearby objects.
  2. The farsighted eye has no difficulty viewing distant objects.
  3. The lens can no longer presume the convex and curved shape lens that is needed to view the nearby objects. This vision problem can be corrected by using a converging (convex) lens.
  4. It will refract light before entering the eye and eventually decreases the distance of the image. By initializing the refraction process prior to light reaching the eye and the image of nearby objects is once again focused upon the retinal surface.
