Solution

Colloids:

  • Colloids are types of substances where 1-1000 nm sized particles are dispersed in a medium
  • The particles dispersed in the medium are called the dispersed phase and the medium in which particles are dispersed is called the dispersion medium
  • Depending upon the states of the dispersed phase and dispersion medium, different types of colloids are present
  • If the dispersed phase is liquid and the dispersion medium is solid, it is called get type colloid
  • Cheese is a good example of gel-type colloid
  • Colloids can show the Tyndall effect, where the path of light becomes visible when light passed through it due to the scattering of light by the dispersed particles.

Hence, one example of gel is cheese.
