  • A homogeneous mixture of two or more substances is called a solution.
  • It is also called a true solution.
  • The two main components of the solution are solute and solvent.
  • Solute: The component usually presents in lesser of the solution that is dissolved in the solvent is called the solute. It can be a gas, liquid, solid.
  • Solvent: The component usually present in the larger quantity of the solution that dissolves the other component in it is called the solvent, it can be a gas, liquid.
  • An example of a gaseous solution is a mixture of nitrogen and oxygen gases in the air and solid solution alloys.
