When there is a loss of hydrogen it is known as Oxidation.

The following reaction shows the loss of hydrogen
$\underset{hydrogen sulphide}{H_{2} S (g)} + \underset{chlorine}{{C l}_{2}} (g) \to \underset{hydrochloric acid}{2 H C l} (g) + \underset{sulphur}{S} (s)$
The above equation shows there is a loss of hydrogen from hydrogen sulphide when hydrogen sulphide and chlorine reacts to produce hydrochloric acid and sulphur.
