Solid Solution: A solid solution is a uniform mixture of two crystalline solids that share a common crystal lattice.

A solid solution consists of two components that is solute and solvent.

  1. A solute is a component that is present in a lesser amount.
  2. A solvent is a component that is present in a greater amount.

Example - Brass containing 70% of copper and approximately 30% of zinc contains zinc as a solute and copper as a solvent. The mixture of silver and gold, copper and gold are other examples.
