Solution: A homogeneous mixture of two or more components mixed together.

  • A solution is formed when a solute and a solvent combines.
  • Solute: The component of solution which is present in a lesser quantity or a substance that is dissolved.
  • Solvent: The component of a solution which is present in a larger amount or a substance in which solute is dissolved.

A solution of two gases means that the solute as well as the solvent is a gas.

Example: Air in which two major gases are Oxygen (O2) and Nitrogen (N2).
