Solution: A homogeneous mixture of two or more components mixed together.

  • A solution is formed when a solute and a solvent combine.
  • Solute: The component of a solution which is present in a lesser quantity or a substance that is dissolved.
  • Solvent: The component of a solution which is present in a larger amount or a substance in which solute is dissolved.

A solution of two liquids means that the solute, as well as the solvent, is a liquid.

Example: Ethanol (C2H5OH) in Water (H2O) where both ethanol and water are liquids.
