Myopia and hypermetropia:

1. Myopia is the condition that occurs where distant objects appear to be blurred while the nearby objects are seen clearly. It is also called Short-sightedness.

2. Hypermetropia is where one can’t see close by objects clearly while distant objects appear to be clear. It is also called farsightedness.

Difference between myopia and hypermetropia (cause of defect):

This defect can be caused due to:

  • Increase in the length of the eyeball in front or back.
  • When the lens of the eye becomes curved.
  • The person can see the unclear image of the distant objects.
  • The unclear image of the distant objects formed due to the image presents in front of the retina.

This defect can be caused due to:

  • Shortening of the length of the eyeball. Either from the front or back,
  • If the lens becomes flat and curvature is lost.
  • The focal length of the eye lens is large in size.
  • Eyeballs are small in size.
