1. We will add sodium hydroxide solution to each.
2. In the case of zinc nitrate solution, white precipitate first formed dissolves in excess of sodium hydroxide solution.
3. But in the case of calcium nitrate, a white precipitate formed does not dissolve in an excess of sodium hydroxide solution.
