Magnetic cranes:
Electromagnet is used in powerful cranes to lift and drop heavy objects.
When the electric current is turned on the crane picks up the load and when it is turned off the load is dropped.
Also electromagnets are used in electric motors, loudspeakers ,telephones etc.
