Blood is a fluid connective tissue, which has a fluid (liquid) matrix called plasma.
Red blood cells (RBCs), white blood cells (WBCs), and platelets are suspended in plasma.
Plasma is also responsible for transporting nutrients, hormones, and proteins throughout the body. It also comprises waste products secreted by cells that are later eliminated from the body.
