Stomata
Stomata are tiny pores present in the epidermis of leaves. There may be as many as 1000 to 60,000 stomata in a cm2 of a leaf surface.
It has been seen that stomata show periodic opening and closing during the day (diurnal variation) depending upon the heat and light, the water content of the cell, and humidity. They are generally closed during the night.
