Nephron:

  1. It is the functional unit of kidney.
  2. It is also known as uriniferous tubule.
  3. It originates in the cortex region and extends into the cortex-medulla region.
  4. A kidney may have more than 1.2 million nephrons.

Glomerulus

  1. It is a tuft of capillaries present in the cup-shaped cavity of Bowman’s capsule.
  2. In a kidney, renal artery divides into a number of capillaries and arterioles mostly in the cortex region.
  3. The capillaries coil and form a knot like structure known as glomerulus.
  4. Blood enters in the glomerulus through afferent arteriole and leaves through efferent arteriole.
