Embryologically, blood has the same origin as the other connective tissue types have and blood connects the body systems together bringing the needed oxygen, nutrients, hormones and removing the wastes.Due to these reason blood is characterised as connective tissue.

The deposition of calcium and phosphorus makes the matrix of the bone hard.
ie,
Bones are the combination of hard minerals and collagen which makes them so hard that it cannot be bent without breaking.

Cartilage contains condrocytes that secretes a gel like substance which combines with fibers to form a flexible matrix. Thus cartilages are flexible and can be bent easily.
