(a) Not all hydrophytes are pollinated by water because:
* Infact most of the hydrophytes are pollinated by air or insects. E.g. Lotus, Eichhornia
​* In case of water lily and water hyacinth, the flowers emerge above the water and are pollinated by insects or wind.

(b) Cleistogamous flowers are invariably autogamous because:
* they remain closed and only self-fertilisation is possible.
* Greek word: kleistos= closed.
