Solution

Nobel Gas: Noble gases, also known as inert gases are the elements that belong to group 18 of the modern periodic table. These elements exist in the gaseous phase.

The Octet rule: The octet rule states that every atom in order to attain stability is to be filled with "8" electrons in their outermost electron shell.

  • As the number of electrons in the outer shell of the most stable or inert atoms is 8.
  • They are known to possess extremely low chemical reactivity hence the name inert gas.
  • Neon(Ne) gas is also an example of Nobel gas or inert gas.
  • The electronic configuration of Neon(Ne) is Ne10:2(K),8(L).

Therefore, Neon(Ne) gas does not combine with other elements to form a compound.
