Solution

Due to the presence of the following unique properties of carbon such as:
  • Tetravalency - Carbon has four valence electrons (At. no. of C = 6; Elec. Config.= 2, 4) so it can form four covalent bonds from other atoms.
  • Catenation - This self-linking property of carbon through which it forms covalent bonds in the form of straight chains, branched chains, and cyclic chains of different sizes.
  • Isomerism - Isomerism is the phenomenon in which more than one compound has the same chemical formula but different chemical structures.
