Question

Give reason for the following:

Liquids have greater fluidity than solids.

Open in App
Solution

  • Liquids and gases are known as fluids because both of them can flow easily.
  • Both have the least intermolecular force of attraction between their molecule so particles are loosely held thus they can flow easily.
  • In solids molecules are tightly held with each other because of the strong intermolecular force of attraction between the molecules. Hence they cannot move so their fluidity is very less compared to liquid and gases.
