Solution

Transpiration:

  1. Transpiration is the loss of water vapor from the aerial parts of the plant.
  2. It takes place through stomata, cuticles, and lenticels.

Water transpired is water absorbed, because:

  1. Plants absorb water continuously through roots. This water moves up and gets distributed in the whole plant including aerial parts.
  2. About 2% of this water is utilized for metabolic processes like photosynthesis.
  3. The remaining water is lost in the form of water vapor through transpiration.
