Why are naphthalene balls kept in cupboards?

Naphthalene balls are kept in cupboards as they show the property of sublimation.

It forms naphthalene vapors to ward off any insect which could damage our clothes and protect our clothes.

  • Sublimation- Sublimation is a process in which a matter goes from the solid state to the gaseous state directly without undergoing into the liquid state.
  • This process of sublimation is also observed in camphor.
