It was important to have federal form of government in India because India is a very diverse country. It was important that people from all parts of the country should have a say in the governance of the country. India is also a very large country and the central government may not be efficiently able to govern such a country if all power is concentrated in the centre. Hence, it was important for India to have a federal form of government.
