Solution

  1. When luggage is kept on the top of the moving bus or a car, luggage tends to be in inertia with the bus or car i.e inertia of motion.
  2. When a bus or car makes a sharp turn or tries to stop, the inertia of the vehicle changes.
  3. As luggage is kept on the top the vehicle tries to resist the motion it falls due to its inertia of rest.
  4. To prevent this, luggage is tied on the top of the car or bus.
