Preparation of Ammonia

  1. Ammonia a Colorless gas with pungent smell is generally prepared from Haber process is an artificial nitrogen fixation process that is used to produce ammonia in industry.
  2. A metal catalyst(iron) is used in the reaction with hydrogen to convert atmospheric nitrogen into ammonia.
  3. Molybdenum is used because it acts as a promoter and increases the efficiency of catalyst iron.
  4. Therefore, Molybdenum is used to increase the efficiency of manufacture of ammonia.
