The sunlight after passing through a prism splits into seven colours.

  1. The process of splitting sunlight into its constituent seven colors after passing through a prism is known as dispersion.
  2. Therefore, when sunlight travels from air into the glass prism the seven colors move at different speeds and bent accordingly.
  3. Red light has a longer wavelength hence it doesn't bend that much towards the normal as compared to the violet light, which has the low wavelength.
