Question

Give reason why aquatic animals are able to survive in severe winter?

Open in App
Solution

Importantly there are two reasons:-

  1. Solubility of oxygen increases with decrease in temperature, as a result aquatic animals are able to breath more comfortably.
  2. Only the top layer of the river, lake or ocean freezes and water below it remains in liquid form.
