Solution
When a stone is dropped in glass containing water, it occupies some volume of glass, and the level of water rises.
When sugar is added to water, it gets dissolved in water and the water level does not rise because sugar molecules are very small, and they get adjusted in the intermolecular spaces present between water molecules.
