  2. Loud music and noise can damage cells and membranes in the cochlea.
  3. Listening to loud noise for a long time can overwork hair cells in the ear, which can cause these cells to die.
  4. To help prevent hearing loss, turn down the volume and wear ear protection the next time you're around loud noise.
  5. If someone is around loud noise often, over a long time, permanent hearing loss can happen.
  6. Sounds less than around 70 dB are safe.
