Give reasons:
1. While drawing water from the well, the bucket of water appears to be heavier as ot comes out of the water.
2. A cork floats , but an iron piece sinks in water.

Dear Student ,
1 . Bucket of water appears to be heavier because it experiences an upthrust equal to the water displaced by it .Thus the apparent weight of the bucket is far less than its real weight .So when the bucket comes out of the water upthrust is vanished and the bucket appears heavier .
2 . A piece of cork floats as it has air spaces and its density is lesser than the water whereas an iron piece sinks as its density is more than water .
