Give reasons for the following :

For electroplating with silver, silver nitrate is not used as electrolyte.

• Silver nitrate is not used during the electroplating process because it will make the deposition of silver very fast.
• Due to the fast process, the deposition of silver will not be smooth and uniform.
• So, we use sodium argentocyanide ($\mathrm{Na}\left[\mathrm{Ag}{\left(\mathrm{Cn}\right)}_2\right]$) which will make the deposition of silver smooth and uniform.
