Question

Give reasons for the following: There is either a convergence or a divergence of magnetic field lines near the ends of a current-carrying straight solenoid.

Solution

  1. A solenoid is a wire coil with numerous turns wrapped around it. The magnetic field inside a solenoid is determined by the current, number density, and current direction.
  2. Because they can't start or end somewhere, the field lines must loop around.
  3. Field lines enter through the coils, and the field begins to point out from the solenoid's borders and roll around to return to the other end.
  4. Because the magnetic field strength is stronger near the poles or ends of a current-carrying straight solenoid, there is either a convergence or a divergence of magnetic field lines near the ends.
  5. Demonstrating with the help of a diagram.
