Give reasons for the following:
Methane does not undergo addition reactions, but ethene does.

Only unsaturated hydrocarbons undergo addition reaction and not the saturated hydrocarbons. Methane is a saturated hydrocarbon it has all single bonds hence it does not show addition reaction. Ethene has a double bond and can undergo addition reaction.
