Mosquitoes can be controlled by preventing stagnation of water through they do not live in water.

Water-borne disease:

  1. Diseases which can be transmitted by water are termed water-borne diseases.
  2. Pathogens contaminate the fresh water which when consumed directly or indirectly via food cause sickness.
  3. Examples- Typhoid, cholera etc.
  4. Mosquito larvae thrive in water, even though mosquitos reside on land.
  5. The larvae cannot live if water stagnation is prevented.
