Solution

Sericulture:

  1. Sericulture is a field that involves the rearing of silkworms for the production of silk fibres.
  2. The larval stage of silk moths or silkworms is chosen as it develops the cocoon before forming an adult.
  3. The cocoon is a rich source of silk fibres and hence silk worms are collected in that stage.
  4. The cocoons are collected and placed in hot water before the silk moths develop as it will damage the cocoon and lead to loss of silk fibres.
