Give reasons for the following taking into evaporation:
(a) while putting clothes for drying up we spread them out.
(b) Clothes dry up faster when spread near a heater.
(c) Clothes take very long to dry on a rainy day.

a) By spreading out the clothes, we increase the surface area and hence the rate of evaporation increases.
b) This is because heat generated from the heater causes the water to evaporate at a faster rate.
c) humidity(water vapor in air) is inversely proportional to rate of evaporation. In rainy days, humidity is more and so rate of evaporation is low.
