Solution

Transpiration:

  1. Transpiration is the loss of water vapor from the aerial parts of the plant.
  2. It takes place through stomata, cuticles, and lenticels.

Rate of transpiration increases in hot and dry weather:

  1. The increase in temperature will increase the process of conversion of water into water vapor.
  2. The relative humidity of dry air is less compared to the relative humidity inside the plant body.
  3. This provides a driving force for more transpiration to occur.
  4. Therefore the rate of transpiration increases in hot and dry weather.
