Because laser beams are parallel, coherent , monochromatic and polarized in 1 direction, these are using in cutting metals.

In metal cutting through lasers, the process works by directing the laser beam through a nozzle to a workpiece. A combination of heat and pressure creates beam, vapourises or is blown away by a jet of gas leaving an edge with high quality surface finish.
