Question

Give reasons:
The sun appears reddish early in the morning.

Solution

At the time of sunrise, the blue and violet colors are scattered away from the path of sunlight as the thickness of the atmosphere is more between the horizon and the observer, during sunrise. The light that reaches the observer is mostly red, as red light is of the longest wavelength, and hence it's scattered the least. Hence the sun appears reddish early in the early morning.
