Mosses:

  1. Mosses belong to the taxonomic group Bryophyta which includes non-vascular flowerless plants.
  2. Bryophyta, which comprises liverworts, mosses, and hornworts, is also known as bryophytes.
  3. Mosses grow in damp or shaded areas in dense green clusters or mats.
  4. The mosses reproduce asexually through fragmentation in which a portion of moss can grow into a new moss.
  5. Not many plants have the ability to reproduce from any area of their body, but moss is an excellent example of one that does.

Examples of Mosses:

Some examples of mosses are Marchantia, Riccia, Sphagnum, Funaria, Polytrichum, etc.
