1. India played a key role in the establishment and nourishment of democracy in neighboring nations. The values of equality and mutual respect have a great importance in India’s foreign policy. India has established relations with neighboring countries on the basis of these values.
2. There is a lot of political instability in Afghanistan. India has extended help to establish a democratic government in Afghanistan.
3. India helped in 1971’s Bangladesh’s liberation war and establishment of democracy in Bangladesh .
4. In case of Sri-Lanka’s civil war India had sent a peacekeeping force to help the Sri-Lankan government. Through 13th Amendment in Sri-lankan constitution which was an outcome of the Indo-Lanka Accord of July 1987.
5. This was an attempt to reduce tension in sinhala and tamil and creation of peace and deepening of democracy in Sri-lanka.
