A convex lens or a converging lens is used in cameras, binoculars, microscopes etc as it magnifies images. Microscopes generate extremely magnified images of very small objects for this purpose convex lenses are very useful. [1 mark]

A concave lens or a diverging lens is used in a peephole camera to give a panoramic view of the objects outside the doors. It is also used in flashlights to magnify the light produced by the source. [1 mark]
