Respiratory disorder:

Diseases that affect the respiratory system are known as respiratory diseases.

1. Asthma:

  • Asthma is caused by the inflammation and swelling of airways.
  • Causative agent: It is an allergic reaction. The causative agents of asthma are pollens, dust, mold spores or certain foods.
  • Symptoms: It results in difficulty in breathing and wheezing.

2. Pneumonia:

  • Pneumonia is an inflammatory condition of the lungs due to accumulation of fluid in air sacs.
  • Causative agent: It is an air-borne disease caused by bacteria Streptococcus pneumoniae.
  • Symptoms: Symptoms of pneumonia include cough, fever, shaking chills and shortness of breath.

3. Tuberculosis :

  • Tuberculosis mainly affects lungs, but can also affect other parts of the body such as the brain, the kidneys, or the spine.
  • Causative agent: It is also an airborne disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
  • Symptoms: Symptoms include coughing up mucus and sometimes blood, loss of weight, loss of appetite and pain in lungs.
