Give the applications of radioisotopes
Applications of radioisotopes-
(i) Radioisotope of carbon i.e., C-14, is used to estimate the age of old specimens of wood and carbonaceous material of historical importance. This technique is called carbon dating.
(ii)Cobalt-60 is used in the treatment of cancer.
(iii) Radioactive I-131 isotope is used to check the working of the thyroid gland and in the thermometer of goiter.
(iv) U-235 is used as a fuel in nuclear reactors.
(v) Radioactive Na- 24 is used in the study of the circulation of blood in the body.
(vi) P-32 isotope finds useful application in the field of agriculture.
