Type of bond which joins the nitrogenous bases in DNA.

DNA:

  1. Deoxyribonucleic acid or DNA carries genetic information from parents to offspring.
  2. DNA is made up of nucleotides. Each nucleotide is composed of sugar (deoxyribose), a phosphate group, and a nitrogen base.
  3. The nitrogenous bases are of four types- adenine (A), thymine (T), guanine (G), and cytosine (C).
  4. A hydrogen bond (H-bond) joins the nitrogenous bases in DNA.
  5. There are three H-bonds between guanine and cytosine whereas two H-bonds are present between adenine and thymine.
