The Kingdom Plantae is a group of multicellular, autotrophic eukaryotes.

Characteristics of kingdom Plantae:

  1. These are stationary and hence lack movement.
  2. They are autotrophic because they prepare their own food.
  3. They have a cellulose-based cell wall.
  4. The cells possess plastids which contain a photosynthetic pigment called chloroplasts.
  5. They have the ability to grow indefinitely due to the presence of growing points.
  6. They are devoid of excretory organs, sensory organs, and a neurological system.
  7. Example: Riccia, Selaginella, Pinus, and Pisum sativum.
