Composition of electrolyte taken in Hall Heroult's process:

  1. An almost natural Aluminium oxide (Al2O3) compound, also known as Alumina is immersed at 950°C(1,750°F)in a molten electrolyte.
  2. It is composed of Aluminium (Al), Sodium (Na), and Fluorine (F), and is electrolyzed to give aluminium metal at the cathode and oxygen (O) gas at the anode in the Hall-Heroult’s process.
