Question

Give the conditions for an production of Echo? Why do we not get echo in small rooms?

Open in App
Solution

The conditions necessary for hearing the echo. The distance between the sound source and the reflecting surface must not be less than 17 metres where the time period between hearing the original sound and its echo should not be less than 0.1 of a second.
If there are hard walls there will be an echo of the sound bouncing off the wall but because the sound bouncing is so close to the original it's harder to detect. If you haver a small room with soft furnishings (carpets, curtains, sofas) most of the sound is absorbed anyway.
