Question

Give the contrasting features of electric potential of a dipole from that due to a single charge.

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student

At large distance the electric field falls off, not as 1/r 2 (typical of field due to a single charge) but as 1/r 3 .
Also
At large distances, dipole potential falls off as 1/r², whereas the potential due to a single charge falls off as 1/r.
