Question

Give the correct order of initials T or F for following statements. Use T if statement is true and F if it is false.
(I) Sulphide ions reacts with Na4[Fe(CN)5(NO)] to form a purple coloured compound Na2[Fe(CN)5(NOS)]. In the reaction, the oxidation state of iron changes.

(II) Pt(IV) compounds are relatively more stable than Ni(IV) compounds.

(III) the welding of magnesium can be done in the atmosphere of Helium

Solution

The correct option is C FTTT
(I) Sulphide ions reacts with Na2[Fe(CN)5(NO)] to form a purple coloured compound Na4[Fe(CN)5(NOS)]
in the reaction, the oxidation state of iron does not change. hence, statement (i) is false.

(II) The sum of first four ionization enthalpy values of Pt(IV) is less than that for Ni(IV). Hence, Pt(IV) compounds are relatively more stable than Ni(IV) compounds.

Thus statement(II) is true.

(III) The welding of magnesium can be done in the atmosphere of Helium.Hence, the statement (III) is true.

(IV) LiAlH4 on hydrolysis will give hydrogen.
LiAlH4+4H2O4H2+LiOH+Al(OH)3
Hence, the statement (IV) is true.
